The white wines come from Novacella…

The vineyards of the Bressanone basin are the northernmost in Italy; they extend from 600 to 900 meters above sea level. Cultivating vines in this extreme area is only possible in the best exposures.

For this reason, the vineyards are mainly exposed to the south and south-west. Furthermore, to obtain good results, a precise harmonization between the variety of vines and the micro exposures is necessary. If this combination of pedoclimatic factors and variety is successful, the strong temperature variations between day and night, and the poor pebbly-sandy soils - morainic of glacial origin - favor the ripening of grapes which will give wines with intense fruity aromas, with characteristic acidity and minerality of the area. The typical grape varieties, such as Sylvaner, Müller Thurgau, Kerner and Riesling, are testimony to their Alpine origins.

…red wines from Cornaiano and Bolzano.

The Bressanone area is too cold for the red grape varieties, in fact they come from the vineyards owned by the Abbey which are located in Cornaiano and Bolzano.

The Marklhof farm, in Cornaiano, is located on a hill at an altitude of 420 m above sea level, flooded by the sun, well ventilated and of a morainic-gravelly nature, very suitable for varieties such as Schiava, Pinot Noir and Moscato Rosa. The warm Bolzano basin, located at 250 meters above sea level, with sandy-loamy soils is ideal for obtaining a well-structured Lagrein.

Both the white grape varieties in Novacella and the red ones in Cornaiano and Bolzano are grown according to precise rules and harvested at the ideal moment of ripeness. In the cellar we try with great attention to maintain the typical character of the terroir of the different varieties, to produce typical, characterful and long-lived wines.
