The Story
Aurelio Bellia and His Family
The Vigna Lisa agricultural estate is located in the heart of the Lison Pramaggiore DOC territory—the most classic and celebrated area among the small wine-producing regions of Veneto. The proprietor, Aurelio Bellia, manages the estate with great dedication alongside his wife and daughters, catering both to a loyal following of connoisseurs and an ever-expanding market. The quality of the wine is forged in the vineyard, where vine cultivation is handled with the utmost rigor—a philosophy that has guided the estate since its inception. While processing technology has evolved over the years, it remains rooted in a traditional, artisanal approach that is never forgotten.
In 1951, Aurelio Bellia—who shares his name with the current owner—moved from his native Scorzè to Pradipozzo, seeking a better quality of life for his family. He became a sharecropper on an estate owned by the de Concina family, one of the last remaining noble Venetian landowning dynasties. By the late 1950s, the patriarch Aurelio and his sons realized that viticulture and the transformation of grapes into wine could provide a solid income. They persuaded the landowners to invest in this sector, and the results proved rewarding for both parties. In the late 1960s, the sharecropping system was abolished—a move enacted through one of the most progressive laws passed since the birth of the Italian Republic. The landowners provided fair settlements to the sharecroppers, and the most enterprising among them went on to establish new, dynamic agricultural businesses. Aurelio’s sons proved to be—and remain—highly capable entrepreneurs. One of them, Ferruccio, purchased vineyards in Pradipozzo. Over time, he expanded the estate’s acreage and built a modern winery, thereby laying the foundations for the business known today as Vigna Lisa.
