We do it all
The independence of a craft brewery since 2016 is an extremely important and fundamental value. Since 2016, some important national breweries have been acquired totally or in part by industries in the sector, allowing them to operate with industrial methods.
The loss of independence requires that other parties, other than the brewery, decide strategies and objectives. Birrone has not only always been independent, but it is also a single-member LLC. The only partner is Simone Dal Cortivo and it is he who defines the company policies.
We grow raw materials
In 2019 we sowed our first 5 hectares of barley which allowed us to verify the quality of our supply chain product, and to open the path that led us to become an Agricultural Brewery from January 1, 2020.
The quality of the barley transformed into malt was perfect for our quality standards. In 2020 the total cultivated area was 20 hectares of which 15 were barley and 5 between Marano corn and Wheat.
100% of our production
In 2021 we planted the first 200 hop plants. 100 cascade and 100 comet which for the autumn of that year allowed us to produce our beer 100% of our production.
In 2023 the total cultivated area will be 25 hectares thanks to 5 hectares cultivated in Puglia. To these we will add about half a hectare of hops grown on our lands in Emilia Romagna.
An endless journey
Our Brewer, Simone, always says that he makes beer for his own desires and these very often coincide with those of our customers. Written like this it seems like a joke, but for 15 years now he has always had an endless list of new beers to produce, always different and always inspired by a new adventure. From a new journey. A new intuition. To be managed with the classic line of 12 fixed beers.
Despite this limit, in the last 5 years we have always produced about ten one-shot beers a year, satisfying the curiosity of the most demanding palates. Each new beer is the achievement of a new technical goal, but also a deeply cultural one. Tackling countless styles of beer is equivalent to studying a lot and many times understanding what world exists behind certain types of beer.
